Welcome
Hi there dear reader. In this first post I’d like to introduce you to the Space Cadet Log. A smattering of weird bits and pieces that I’m throwing together curating for y’all. I’d like to think this might be a bit more preferable to me to just posting 17 weird things in a week. But maybe I’m wrong. I really don’t know. Either way, I hope you enjoy this. Actually, I don’t hope anymore so here it is.
Paul v the Wind
All my homies hate the wind.
Social Media State of the Union
I’m very happy to have this place on Substack right now. Things out on social media are tense right now. Elon Musk turned X into a place of obscene hate. TikTok has been the target of political games only to flip the script by appearing to be more than willing to be a mouthpiece for the Trump White House. And Meta is getting more masculine by removing fact checking.1
Social media has never been exactly my favorite place, but it’s been a place that I have been able to find an audience and make jokes and sometimes even get jobs. I my go-to joke when my seemingly much more successful friends ask how my work is going is: “I put on my hazmat suit everyday and play around in social media”. So, I’ve always been a fan and have been trying to find ways to stay relevant (or at least stay on the relevant apps if my jokes struggle to keep up). I was on MySpace, Wordpress, Vine, Google Plus, etc. at some point. And while many users are mourning the loss of TikTok (yes, it’s back…but something seems different…) and worried about the heel turn on Meta; I’m trying to find places for my content in the upcoming future. I’m loving Substack. I hope BlueSky takes off. But times are obviously changing and I always try to change with it.
But it’s difficult. We work so hard to build a name for ourselves only for the policies of the platform to change the vibe over-night. I’m hoping to find a home here on Substack. I hope I find an audience here. I hope it’s you. Social media is ridiculous, yes. But I’m hoping we can connect and you give me a chance here in this new place.
It’s the same jokes I’ve always been making but in a new address. Thanks for being here with me as we figure this all out. I’m hoping to make this a new home for my content. Welcome to Flavortown.
Generational Chains
Chains, my brain has got me locked up in chains. And it ain’t the kind that you can see.
Post-etry
in this reoccurring segment on the Sub we take a social media post and make it a poem. Pls enjoy and snap if you like it.
one thing I learned about myself these past few weeks is that no matter what situation I’m in: I’m always on the look-out for a little snacky-snack
